The world is hurting. We urgently need God’s intervention and healing. The earthquake in Morocco that shattered thousands of lives’ death toll stands at nearly 3,000 people and injuries number more than 5,600, according to official figures.
The magnitude 6.8 earthquake hit Morocco on September 8, causing mass deaths in mountain villages that have collapsed in on themselves. A magnitude 4.9 aftershock hit 19 minutes later. Entire villages higher up in the mountains were levelled. In many, at least half of the population appears to have died.
In a similar development Earthquake on Monday morning of September 18, 2023, struck central Italy north of Florence, sending residents into the streets. According to reports, there was no immediate damage but schools were closed in some areas as a precaution and trains were delayed pending checks on the railway lines.Italy’s National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) measured the quake at 4.8 on the Richter scale, with its epicentre near Marradi, a town of about 3,000 residents in the province of Florence within the Apennine mountain range. It was gathered the the earthquake occurred at 5:10 am (0310 GMT).
What Should We Do?
Time is running out on all of us. We need to act fast. We need to pray for the bereaved, hurting and the wounded to heal. Also, we need to be reminded that God’s word warns us about these earthquakes as signs of the last days meant to precede the coming of His Son Jesus Christ.
Let Us Pray
Heavenly Father show us mercy. Help and heal those affected directly and indirectly by the earthquakes in around the world, particularly in Morocco and Italy. Help the rest of us to amend our ways, forgive us and help us to be conscious of the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in the name of your Son Jesus Christ.
